Institutional Impact
As the architect of a reimagined post-pandemic Centre for Teaching and Learning, I unified eLearning and teaching development into a central hub for scholarly and pedagogical growth. I built foundational structures to expand institutional capacity and positioned the Centre as a strategic partner for educational leadership.
By redefining team roles and aligning professional development with institutional priorities, I developed a cohesive teaching and learning ecosystem and fortified the Centre’s ability to lead change. What was once a support unit became a dynamic, scholarly team driving momentum and institutional innovation.
Key initiatives include:
Launching Canada’s first open-access SoTL journal focused on undergraduate education providing a national platform for scholarly inquiry
Authored the institutional policy on teaching recognition, embedding the strategic direction for valuing and rewarding teaching within the university’s academic governance framework.
Led academic change during an LMS migration, serving as acting project manager for the final implementation phase and directing the cross-functional team and faculty change-management process that ensured a smooth institutional transition.
Directed the creation of faculty development pathways for educational leadership, scholarly inquiry, and teaching excellence, establishing a scaffolded model for sustained professional growth and academic recognition.
Strengthened MacEwan University’s institutional profile in educational leadership, organizing and hosting inter-institutional events — including the 2023 Teaching Symposium — to foster cross-campus collaboration and visibility.
Advanced the Centre’s national and international reputation for scholarly excellence, representing its work at major academic gatherings including STLHE, Congress, and the SoTL Symposium.
